The team began by surveying and marking the exact anchor locations, after which the modular members were installed in stages to ensure structural support was provided without compromising the historic fabric of the building. Regular liaison with the church warden ensured minimal disruption to parish activities throughout the works.

Built between 1865–1868 by architect Charles Hodgson Fowler, St Ives Church has long served the Leadgate community, which grew rapidly in the 19th century as a result of the industrial expansion tied to Eden Colliery. The team worked with care to preserve the church’s character while delivering the required structural support.

This is one of many occasions Hodgson Sayers has carried out sensitive works to heritage buildings. Each project requires a high level of skill and understanding of historic structures.

The company continues to take great pride in helping preserve these important community landmarks and the client was extremely satisfied with the result.
