The project, led by contracts manager, Darren Burns, involved the replacement of pitch roofing and liquid proofing the existing ash felt and single ply gutters, to extend the lifespan for, approximately, another 20 years.
Prior to works undertaken, a number of roofing leaks meant that the contents of the building were at risk of damage and the existing gutters were in poor condition, which exasperated the issue.
Hodgson Sayers allocated six members of the team to deliver the project in a timely manner and with minimal disruption, so that students and researchers could continue their studies with little inconvenience.
The programme duration was approximately 20 weeks and Durham University was extremely satisfied, with the project working around student holiday periods to complete the works to programme and budget.
