Crowngate, Birmingham City Centre (final phase)

Work on the final phase of a framework contract (EEM0028) with Efficiency East Midlands (EEM) and in conjunction with Midland Heart housing organisation, is complete. Hodgson Sayers undertook pitched roof replacements to 122 apartments.

The contract began in March 2018 and additional work was awarded to the lower roof sections which saw the project completed in December 2018.

The contract was delivered by a highly skilled team of pitched and flat roofers with experience of working with complex detailing, the site manager controlled the logistical site based activities supported by the contract manager and office based contract coordinators and planners.

Objectives:

  • To complete the final phase of the project all lower flat roof replacements were matched to a Redland Cambrian slate specification
  • The lower roof was past its life expectancy and was experiencing water ingress
  • The team worked across 1,000 sq metres to replace the felt roof with a watertight structure and alongside a local scaffolding company to ensure minimal disruption for residents
  • From start to completion, residents were kept up-to-date with progress

Customer feedback

The client and all stakeholders collaborated on delivering an extensive scheme within the project timescale and commercial budget allowance. The feedback from the residents was positive and appreciative of the works delivery from its commencement through to completion.
