Situated in South Shields town centre, Old Riddick’s Shoe Shop has stood derelict for many years. The roof was in poor condition and was not weather tight. This led to ingress within the roof space and building.
Hodgson Sayers was appointed by client, South Tyneside Council after a successful tender submission.
- Instructed under competitive quotation to renew the roof and lead dome and complete high level stone pointing and structural restraint works
- During the works the team to erect a HAKI stair case to the rear elevation with a Geda material hoist making material movement on site a lot easier plus more productive and cost efficient for the client
- To install new lead dome to give a new lease of life and a fresher aesthetic feel to the building
- New slates, dry ridge systems, lead flashings and box gutter details installed throughout the roof pitches to help ensure the building is back to its best.
“I was very pleased with this project, Hodgson Sayers were professional at all times and the standard of the workmanship of the operatives on site was first class – particularly the works to the lead dome. Dean Goyns (Contracts Manager) was also very helpful and ensured the smooth running of the project.
The project was completed on time and satisfied the brief.”
