We were delighted to win two accolades at the recent Newcastle College Apprenticeships Awards held at St James’ Park. And, what better time to win them than during National Apprenticeship Week!
The awards, recognise and celebrate apprentices who have made a significant contribution to their workplaces and those who go above and beyond to champion apprentices.
We have forged a strong partnership with Newcastle College as we promote and support our apprentices as they progress in their learning.
The red carpet was rolled out as three of our apprentices, Kieran Forster, Oliver Drew and Jordan Condren were nominated for the Apprentice Champion Award.
Jordan Condren was crowned winner. This follows a successful year for Jordan who took to the international stage and was placed silver in the World SkillBuild championship in November. Kieran, who was named the National Icopal Apprentice of the Year last June, was runner-up.
Hodgson Sayers won the Apprentice Employer of the Year Award which recognised the contribution of the company to support apprenticeships within the workplace. This is very much a team effort but we want to give a special thanks to our contracts manager and regulatory affairs manager, Glyn Neasham, who supports our apprentices so well.
College tutors, Alan Bessford and Jay Wilson have also been instrumental in the success of the apprentices with their expertise and continued encouragement and support.
We were also pleased to sponsor the Higher or Degree Apprentice of the Year, which was presented to the winner by Glyn Neasham.
It was a great night all round and we look forward to our continued partnership with the college as we see our young team go from strength-to-strength.
