Contracts Manager, David Wakenshaw, discusses his role in the social values committee

Building on the successful completion of 41 charitable initiatives and support activities undertaken during 2014, we decided to launch a social value committee to continue and progress on the previous achievements of sustainable social development in partnership with our stakeholders.

The social value committee members include; finance supervisor, Tarnya Henderson, contracts manager, Darren Ellis, administration apprentice Jemma Herring and contracts manager, Dave Wakenshaw.

The committee will meet each month to programme and canvas opinion, explore potential initiatives and plan events.

Recently in partnership with Your Homes Newcastle, we have assisted residents by providing advice, donations of equipment and mentoring to support them into employment.

On a smaller scale, we had great fun with a Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday 25 September where members of the team baked a host of sweet treats to support the charity. This is a fun way for the team to socialise together as they enjoy a coffee and cake and raise much needed funds.

To date we have clocked over twenty events in 2015 well on the way to surpassing the tally set in 2014.

Going forward we are looking at innovative ideas and ingenuities to sustain our continuous commitment to our stakeholders and the wider community laying the foundations as a responsible employer.
