Cakes for care as team supports Macmillan

By Sales Ledger, Penny Owen

On 29 September, we will once again be coming together to help support and hopefully make a difference to the lives and families of people living with cancer.

Last year we raised £717 pounds and this year we are looking to double the figure!

All of the money that we raise will help the Macmillan nurses as they provide medical, practical, emotional and financial assistance as well as campaigning for better cancer care. We are looking forward to joining organisations across the country who will also be showcasing their support.

What will be happening on the day?

The office staff and I have been working hard to put together a schedule and our morning begins at 7am, in the canteen. This is open to all of our employees and we want to make sure that our early start will accommodate the operational teams working onsite. We will have bacon and sausage buns, hot and cold beverages, quiches, pies and cakes.

At noon, we will also be serving lunches to office staff at units 5 and 15 where colleagues can purchase a variety of sweet or savoury dishes from chilli and rice, to broth, quiches and cakes.

Upon collection of their food choice we will be selling raffle tickets. We have some fantastic prizes – His & Hers Fitbit Fitness watches, for wine lovers we have a limited edition Bordeaux collection, an M&S hamper, prosecco, gin plus much more!

Our contract managers have also played there part being tasked with selling 25 raffle tickets each and all office staff will all be charged £1 to come to work on the day.

It has been a big team effort, everyone has gone above and beyond to support the cause.

We have our fingers crossed that we can pull out all the stops and raise a significant amount for a charity which has touched the lives of so many people.
