Apprentices are flying high!

We are proud to announce that five of our apprentices have been selected to represent the company and the North East in the Redland/Icopal apprentice of the year competition.

The event is held at the BMI National Training Centre in Gloucestershire on 26 and 27 June.

This is a fantastic accolade for pitched roofing apprentice, Jordan Condren and flat roofing apprentices, Joe Gladstone, Kieran Forster, Oliver Drew and Ross Adams.

They follow in the footsteps of David Crank who reached the national final in 2017. David has gone on to achieve great success as the regional Skilbuild champion, representing Hodgson Sayers and Newcastle College in the slating and tiling category, held in April of this year.

Entrants were asked what motivated them to enter the roofing industry, how they motivate themselves and those around them at college and at work.

The two day assessment will see the finalists receive professional coaching on all aspects of running a roofing business including planning, presenting and technical skills before being assessed by a selection of leading industry figures.

It will close with an awards dinner and the announcement of the winner, who will receive a cash prize, trophy and access to a selection of free courses.

This is a great morale boost and bonding exercise for our young team who will compete against each other and other regional finalists.

It is a benchmark to see how they compare and for them to continue to push on with their own personal progression.

We wish them all the best of luck and hope they enjoy the experience.
